What A Powerful Name It Is

Is there power in a name? Absolutely! If you don’t think so, read your Bible and the next time you feel the enemy attacking repeat the name of Jesus aloud over and over. I can’t tell you the number of times when I’ve prayed this one word and peace has washed over me. During these times not only am I intentionally focusing my mind on my fortress and my deliverer, the enemy flees at the sound of His name.

If you’ve read any of my other blog posts you may have noticed that I reference music a lot. I love music, especially the Contemporary Christian songs, and feel they help lead me into worship. Ever notice how several of them mention the power of His name?

“There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.”

“What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus”

“When you don’t know what to say, just say Jesus.”

This morning, the Lord laid a song on my heart and my favorite part of it says: “The enemy, he has to leave, at the sound of Your great name.”  Singing this song at the top of my voice and really emphasizing those words has helped me through some tough moments. Listen to the lyrics of the whole song. They’re beautiful and remind me of just how powerful the name of Jesus truly is and how he is worthy to be praised!

Jeremiah 10:6 No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Psalm 104:33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
