But. It’s such a common word and it’s used to transition from one thought to the next.
I caught myself responding to a text this morning saying “I know God’s peace and power BUT the enemy hits from every angle.” As I typed that it hit me that there should be no “but” inserted. That leaves room for doubt. Instead, I should KNOW God’s peace and power. Period. The end.
If I insert that “but”, it gives acknowledgment to what the enemy is stirring up instead of holding on to the truths and promises God has given.
One of my big battles is the fact that my mind never slows down. I over think everything! Sometimes that over-thinking helps get down to the nitty-gritty of situations, however, more often than not, it’s a curse instead of a blessing. If I ever leave room for doubt in my mind on anything, the enemy tries to wedge further inside.
God has given me confirmations this week which have blessed my heart so the enemy has been hard at work, attacking my thoughts, trying to make me think things that just aren’t true. HE IS A LIAR!(John 8:44) He knows my weaknesses and uses them – especially as I draw nearer to the Lord.
BUT…I will take up my shield of faith that can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one and take my stand against his schemes. I will resist him and he will flee! I will continue on my path with the Lord and I WILL KNOW GOD’S POWER AND HIS PEACE! I will rest in His holy presence and I will hold on to His truths. Period. The end.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God,so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
