Do you ever see great things happening in other people’s lives and catch yourself thinking ‘why not me’? While you celebrate the blessings other’s have received, you might wonder why things aren’t going differently for you. It’s especially easy to feel this way if you’re in a slump and struggling with a situation. Although we never intend to become envious, we’re human, and it sometimes happens.
First, let’s be reminded that both even slight envy and doubt are from the enemy and are wrong. When you open up that “can of worms” and begin to ask the question ‘why not me’, the devil sneaks in and can take you down a path you never intended; even leading you to question if you have enough faith to receive the blessings others have received.
Moreover, having those thoughts may give God the impression you aren’t thankful for all He’s already done in your life and when you look at it like that, well, that’s huge!
STOP GIVING THE ENEMY ROOM TO INVADE YOUR THOUGHTS!
INSTEAD, BE REMINDED OF WHAT GOD HAS PROMISED!
Jeremiah 29:11 is the key verse here. It says that the Lord knows the plans He has for YOU, plans to prosper YOU not harm YOU and to give YOU hope and a future.
God’s will for each of our lives is different and we all have different walks. What He has lined up in another’s world may not coincide with what He has lined up for ours. Just like He made each of us, as individuals, unique, He too planned individual journeys that take us spiritually where WE need to be.
Be thankful and give Him praise that other’s have received great things through the works of His hands. Be thankful they’ve been blessed. However, be most thankful and give Him praise that you too are blessed in many ways. Seek His forgiveness for forgetting otherwise.
Be at peace with the fact God has your journey mapped out according to His will, not the world’s. Trust that He will guide your steps and give you the hope and future He promised.
Never cease seeking His direction for your life and never cease in striving to be in His will.
TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND LEAN NOT ON
YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. IN ALL YOUR WAYS
ACKNOWLEDGE HIM AND HE WILL DIRECT YOUR PATHS.
When you’re busy counting your own blessings you’ll be too busy with thankfulness for all He’s done for you to be concerned or have any envy at what He’s doing for everybody else.
Proverbs 14:30 says “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
